About Us

John and Sophie Gaston are the founders of Examscreen, the much-loved exam display tool trusted by over 1500 schools since its creation in 2018. The tool was developed by John – within a school, for schools – and this approach has been core to developing all our subsequent tools.

John is an experienced and practicing exams officer in a secondary school in Brighton. Sophie has worked both as a secondary languages teacher and in leadership roles across the wider education sector.

About Our Approach

We create and develop our tools according to some key principles:

  1. We provide what schools actually need. Our daily work in schools grounds everything we create in what is really needed by students and staff – not what we think you might need. We get it because we do it.
  2. We price our tools sensibly. We know what is reasonable for schools (and what isn’t!). We do not use tricks like freemium offers or complicated pricing structures. We are transparent. Our prices are clearly available on this website, and everything is made as simple as possible for you – for example, for each exam centre, use of our tools is unlimited.
  3. We don’t waste money. You won’t see costly, corporate-style ads on Facebook and you’re unlikely to see us exhibiting at conferences or sales events. We can keep our prices low because we don’t transfer the cost of this sort of thing to you, the schools. Our tools spread entirely through word of mouth, and through the trust and enthusiasm of the schools that use them.
  4. We provide next-level school support. Our day-to-day experience of delivering exams and deep knowledge of the workings of schools means that we come to any enquiry with empathy and understanding and the ability to provide real, workable solutions for exams teams, SEND teams and IT teams.
  5. We are for every student and every school. Our tools are used in every setting from PRUs to international schools to special schools to local comprehensive schools to leading public schools to FE settings and across the biggest MAT groups. Geographically you can’t escape us either, whether you’re in the UK or overseas!
